New use for iPhone!
I have discovered something wonderful about my new toy iPhone… I’ve never been one to use the camera feature on my cell phone, the images just weren’t worth it. They’re still not great, but the iPhone makes it really easy to use.
Anyway, I was at the bookstore this past weekend when I broke down and bought Sam’s new book (that’s mine on the right). I took a photo of it sitting on the kiosk at the front of the store. It only took me two days to read (many interruptions) and is, in my opinion, her best book yet! The next day, Amazon.com shipped me the copy I’d pre-ordered (as soon as it gets here, I’ll have my first give-away).
Then, I had a brilliant idea.
Since I can’t possibly buy every book I want to read, I used to write down the title and author so I could remember to order it later (from either Amazon.com or the library). Then it occurred to me that it would be a lot easier to simply photograph each book I want to read…. It was much faster than writing and within moments I had a photo of every book I want to read. Look! One of my favorite authors has a new book out!

That is a fun idea! I was in a lighting store and saw a lamp that I loved, but given the it was Swarovski crystal and some chi-chi designer, I knew I’d never actually buy the thing. So I took a picture with my camera phone and figured maybe someday it would be inspiration to string some (cheap) crystals together and make a lamp myself. It hasn’t actually come to that yet, but the photo is there if I ever feel so inclined.
Great idea! I’ve been using the notepad on my iPhone to keep track of the books I want to read, but photos are fun (and faster)!
Thanks for the great idea!
What a cool idea! I can see you standing in the bookstore and looking through your picture file of books on your iPhone and deciding which one to buy. I just got an iPhone too and am having so much fun with it! If your boys like Star Wars, you can download a free light saber – my youngest loves it!
Have a great holiday weekend!
Great idea!
Robin, does your iPhone still quack?
Wow! Look at all those copies they have. That’s fantastic. I actually won my copy, and I ate it up. It was fantastic! Now I can’t wait for Sam’s next one.
As for keeping track of the books I want to read, I used to do that with an Amazon.com wish list, but now I use Goodreads, http://www.goodreads.com. So helpful! Now when I’m ready for a trip to the library or the bookstore I know exactly what to look for.
Have you seen ereader for the Iphone? Check it out It’s a free app and its one way to read on the go.
