Let’s Play a Game!

Since I’m moving this weekend, and my Internet connection will be spotty at best, I thought I’d leave you with a guessing game. Take a look at the below image.

What is this a picture of?

I’ve looked at it a few times and think I have a guess. The little key thing on the top left of the center column, and something about the brass-colored part make me think gas. Is it an upside down gas lamp?

    Nope
The picture is taken from the top down.

    it’s a wild guess…I’d say a light fixture.
have fun packing and moving!

Light fixture was my first thought too, but I’m going to say it’s something like a champagne tower – a liquid effect thingy for parties. Now don’t go laughing at my articulate answer.

  5. I am stumped if it isn’t a light fixture.

Yes, I have to agree that this looks a lot like a light fixture. I like the fountain idea too. But its not.

Its an old/early version of something most of us use fairly often.

Hint: You look down into it.

  7. My guess is a mixer, but as far as it being something most of us use fairly often, um, I don’t. :) If it doesn’t come in a box with pictures of the ingredients you have to add on the back, I pretty much don’t bake it. Heehee.

The first thing that popped into my head when you said it’s something we use fairly often and look down into is… a sink. Did I get closer?

  9. Wavatar Ilana says:

Its not a mixer and its not a sink, but Sonja and Robin, you are really close – it has elements of both your guesses.

Seeing the lines along the bottom and that drain to the right, I keep thinking salad spinner, but can’t figure out what the metal things would do, then. Or why that key is there. Or that black cord winding around in the bottom of the thing.

    A blender maybe?

I’ve looked at it a few times, and still don’t know, although it looks like they would require kerosene, like for lighting something up. Beyond that…?
